Recent videos of the girls

One of the things I love most about blogging is being able to keep a record of the girls growing and changing.  If I want to see what Ellie was doing at 4 months old it's easy to go back and see, because it's all right here in one place.  Here are a few recent videos I'm sure we will enjoy looking at someday in the not so distant future...

Lucy was so happy before bed this particular night that I had Brad get it on video, and I'm so glad I did.  We are so thankful for yet another happy girl!

Ellie came home from preschool on Friday singing this "Slippery Fish" song that I have never heard before.  I just LOVE the way she says "oh no" with her hands over her cheeks!

Four Months Old

Oh Lucy girl, you are such a blessing!  We love that you are so smiley these days.  It's a good thing because that makes the nights a little easier to handle.  You still aren't sleeping through the night on your own, but the doctor said today that you don't need to eat anymore.  Sorry little one, but I'm cutting you off starting tonight.  You are growing healthy and strong and we are so thankful for that.  At your four month check up today the doctor said you are 50% in everything.  You weigh 13.14 pounds and are 24 1/2 inches long.  You love to play in your exersaucer, roll onto your belly, and most of all you love watching your big sister Ellie.  I can't wait to see you two running around together and I know you can't wait either!  Thanks for being such a laid back girl...we really appreciate it.  Whether you are sleeping through the night or not, laid back or crazy like your sister, you are so loved little one!

Fun at the Fair

Having fun at the PBS kids tent

The highlight of the day for Ellie was getting to hold the baby chicks.  She would have stayed there all day if we would have let her!

It rained on us off and on all day, but thankfully it wasn't too bad.

Our girl LOVES the rides.

We were so surprised that she got on this ride all by herself...and she had the best time!

The best way to end a trip to the fair is with some NC State ice cream :)!

Lucy's New Trick

As of a few days ago we officially have a back to front roller, all before the age of 4 months old (she did this a whole two months ahead of her big sister)!  Lucy has been practicing her new trick EVERY time we put her on her back, which is cute...until the crying begins.  You see the problem is that she can't roll back over on her back yet and she soon gets VERY angry.  It took her an hour and a half of us going in and flipping her back over for her to fall asleep last night.  Then she was up at 10:30, 12:30, 2:15, and 6:30 all because she was on her stomach again.  Needless to say last night was not a fun one. Thankfully as I am typing this post she just finally fell asleep without much crying on her tummy...she's got to be exhausted!  Here's hoping for a better night tonight.

Emerald Isle Again

This past weekend for the second time in a month we headed to Emerald Isle to spend time with our family.  We had another fun visit enjoying time together on the beach.  Ellie had an amazing time playing with 7 of her 11 cousins.  It was a really loud sweet watching them all play together.

Breakfast Time

This year...

two years ago in the exact same chair.  What a big difference!

Ellie & "Benny" played together practically non-stop

Lucy was so happy out on the beach this day

Loud Lucy

Over the last few days Lucy has really found her voice.  She is definitely our little grunter and can be REALLY loud when she wants to be.  I just love hearing all of the little noises she is making now.  What a funny girl!

Green Level Gourd Farm

This morning we met our neighbors Joelle and Teagen at the Green Level Gourd Farm for some fun!

Riding the tractor

Teagen on the real tractor

We took hayride which didn't go over very well with Ellie.  There were some spooky elements (ghosts, witches, & skeletons) that she was scared of.  I was always sensitive to that kind of stuff as a child so I guess Ellie is like me.

This was much more her speed!

Our Two Girls

Last week Brad took the Exersaucer down from the attic for Lucy to start playing in and so far she seems to like it.  I took this picture of her in it for the first time...

Looking at this picture I couldn't help but be reminded of one of my most favorite pictures of Ellie taken her first time in it as well...

Looking at these pictures I still can't believe the Lord has blessed us with these two precious girls!

Emerald Isle 2011

A few weeks ago we spent time with Nan, Pop Pop, and Aunt Leah down at Emerald Isle.  We spent a lot of time out on the beach, and just relaxing.  I must say though that with a 2 year old and a 3 month old "relaxing" and "beach" don't really go together.  The surf was really rough this year, so we had to keep Ellie within arms reach anytime she was in the water.  There was also plenty of sand castles and sand muffins to be made as well.  We actually spent more time getting Miss Lucy ready for the beach and then cleaning her up afterwards than we did with her actually on the beach with us.  She wasn't a big fan of the wind and the sand in her toes, for that matter.  We are hopeful that next year she will enjoy it more.

We are thankful for two girls who make more work fun out of the beach and for their grandparents and Aunt Leah who "lighten the load" when they are around.

Do you think Ellie has enough sand toys, or what?

This picture was of Lucy's very first time at the beach.
Look at the thighs on her :)!
