So, how big is she?

Today we went to the doctor for a normal check up and an ultrasound. Because of my Gestational Diabetes the doctors wanted another peek at her to make sure she isn't getting too big. Thankfully, she measured at just over 50 percent and they think she's about 6pds 1oz. So, assuming this is accurate and she gains about 1/2 a pound a week she will probably be around 8 pounds at birth. This means that they should not have to induce me unless she doesn't come by her due date March 1st! This is an answer to prayer for sure. The doctor also examined me and said that I am a whole 1/2 centimeter dialated and about 50% thinned out. Lastly, Ellie is head down in my pelvis so everything looks good. We thank the Lord that everything is right on track!

Yet Another Shower!

Last Saturday a few of my good friends gave me yet another shower! Shelly so graciously hosted at her house and we had some yummy food and a great time with so many wonderful friends from college and after. Shelly's mom, Mrs. B as I call her, decorated a great cake and it was so cute. We got some fun things for our little Ellie, but the best part was just getting to spend time together. Thanks for another great shower girls!

YMCA Shower

Last Thursday Brad's work, the YMCA gave us a great baby shower! Since this was Brad's shower they made a special hat and necklace for him to wear and put balloons at his seat. I thought it was great to have a shower where he was more the center of attention than me! We had the best food and cake and got some awesome gifts including a mid-sized stroller and our portable crib. Brad is so fortunate to work with such great people and we feel very blessed by them.

Snow Day

Monday night we went to sleep cautiously anticipating the potential of waking up to falling snow. School had been cancelled that night so I was especially excited to get an extra day off to enjoy the day. Because of the nature of Brad's job I knew to expect an early morning phone call, but I was not prepared to be awoken at 3:30 by the YMCA's landscaper wanting the go-ahead to salt the parking lot! Then as we were almost back asleep the calls began again as the decision was being made on whether to open at 5:30, delay, or close for the day. It hadn't been a great nights sleep for me anyway so about 4:45 I got up and we watched the news coverage. At about 5:30, after deciding to delay opening, Brad learned that there were already some guys there playing basketball. He felt it was best to go in and handle the situation himself.

He returned home about 7:00 and we, being very hungry by now, decided to take our chances and head to IHOP in hopes to get a hot breakfast. Luckily they were open and there was 1 other customer eating so we went in and enjoyed a great breakfast. After a quick trip to Target we headed back home and after learning that the Y was closed enjoyed a relaxing day together watching the Inauguration, playing a little Wii and catching up on some much needed sleep.

Let the Showers Begin!

Saturday marked the beginning of the baby shower extravaganza to come in the upcoming weeks. Anna, Cheri, & Lauren put together a shower with the women of our church and we had a great time! We played some fun shower games, ate some yummy food and a cute cake (made by our own Lauren!) and I opened some great gifts. the generosity of friends and family has been a little overwhelming, and so sweet. It is nice to feel loved and to be reminded of how we are so richly blessed with many friends and family who care about us and our little girl!

FRUSTRATION!!!

Ever since Tuesday night I have been trying to download some great maternity pictures my friend Kristan took of Brad and I last weekend and it still isn't working!!!! I have tried every day to figure out what the issue is to no avail. I know this is silly, but I was almost in tears the other night out of sheer frustration. Of course, the one time I have some great pictures to share my computer decides to act up...UGH!!

Four Years Today

Today Brad and I celebrate our 4th wedding anniversary! We are celebrating tonight with dinner at The Outback Steakhouse and then we'll come home and watch our wedding video (that's been the tradition each year so far). I am thankful for the Lord's goodness to us over the past 4 years as a married couple and am looking forward to many more years to come.

Back to Reality

Yes, it's sad but true, after a whole month off of work I go back to school tomorrow! BOO HOO! Goodbye to waking up without an alarm clock and hello to 6:45 AM. It has been a busy, fun, and relaxing 4 weeks but I do know all good things eventually come to an end. At least I only have 2 more months until our sweet girl comes and then the work really begins!
