Lucy's First Road Trip

Lucy & Aunt Leah

Spending time with Granny & Paw

Lucy, cheesing at Gi Gi & Poppa

Last weekend we finally got out of town to go visit our family in Brevard. I was so excited for a change of scenery and some extra help with the girls. On Saturday we had a cookout and Lucy was able to meet more of her family for the first time. Although she slept through most of it, when she finally woke up she was such a happy girl! Ellie got some good time with Nan, Pop Pop and Aunt Leah, and Brad and I were able to go out on a date on Sunday night. Thank you Mark & Lynne for such a great weekend. We love and appreciate you guys so much.

Breakfast Blessing

Yesterday morning Ellie said this blessing at breakfast:

"Dear God. Thank you for God. Thank you for (Curious) George. Thank you for watching George. Amen."

I know He was well pleased with her earnest little prayer!

Two and a Half

It's so hard to believe that my "baby" is two and a half now. Ellie continues to be such a good natured little girl and is such a joy to us. She is such a big helper around the house and loves to "fold" clothes, unload the dishwasher, sweep the floors, and many other chores. She seems to be enjoying her new role as a big sister and can often be found smothering Lucy with hugs and kisses. Some of her favorite things these days include; her favorite TV shows, Curious George and Word World, swinging in her new swing in our backyard, playing dress up, and singing/dancing.

I always thought Ellie would be potty trained by this age, but it isn't going as I had hoped it would. She can do it, meaning she tells us when she is in the act, and she has even had success a few times. The problem is that she has no desire to use the potty right now. So, for now we'll continue to buy diapers and wait for her to get the motivation to do it herself.

It's hard to believe that in a few weeks Ellie will start preschool at the YMCA. I think she will really like it and am looking forward to hearing about all the fun things she will learn!

8 Whole Weeks Old

I can hardly believe Lucy is 8 weeks old today. In some ways it feels like she has always been a part of our family! She is such a sweet baby and we are enjoying seeing her little personality come out more and more each day.

So far Lucy is a much better napper than Ellie ever was at this age, but she's not sleeping quite as well at night. She is going longer stretches now and usually makes it from around 10 pm to 5-6 am, so we are not complaining. Two of her favorite things so far are playing on her play mat and looking at the fan. I am not exaggerating when I say that the fan gets just as many smiles as I do most days! She is cooing now and getting more nosy by the minute. We are loving watching our sweet baby grow! I am looking forward to seeing what she weighs at her 2 month check up on Tuesday, but I am not looking forward to her getting those nasty shots.

Bath Time!

Lucy had her first real bath on Tuesday night and she absolutely loved it!

1 Month, 3 Weeks, & 4 Days...

and we finally have a belly button. Thankfully, Lucy's umbilical stump came off a whole month earlier than Ellie's. I don't know why, but our girls love to hang onto those yucky things. We are looking forward to her first real bath tonight!
